Mt. Kurakakesan is a 492.4 m peak in the northwestern part of Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture, named for its horse-saddle silhouette and revered as a sacred mountain on the ridge connecting Mt. Kogashi and Mt. Hanzo. A viewing platform crowns the summit's massive boulder "Oiwa," and chained scramble sections, wild azaleas, cherry blossoms, and autumn foliage make it a popular family-friendly day hike of about 90 minutes to the top. The peak is included in the Tochigi 100, Tochigi 150, Oya Seven Famous Mountains, and the Tochigi Prefecture mountains guidebook.
