Mt. Narukamiyama
鳴神山
Kiryū, Gunma · Elevation 980 m
Mt. Narukamiyama is a 979.7-meter peak in northern Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture, straddling the Umeda and Kawauchi districts. It is a twin-summit mountain made up of Kiryudake and Nitayamadake, with Raijin-dake Shrine just below the summit reflecting a long tradition of mountain worship. The mountain is famed as a botanical hotspot: Kakkoso (Primula kisoana var. shibutsuensis), a nationally designated rare and endangered species found nowhere else in the world, blooms here together with Narukami violets and yashio rhododendrons, earning the peak inclusion in the Hana no Hyakumeizan and Gunma Hyakumeizan lists. The ridge is traversed by the Narukami-Azuma segment of the Kanto Fureai Trail (the Kanto-region long-distance nature trail).
