From the Otaki trailhead in northern Kiryu, this loop climbs past the shoulder clearing and the Narukami hut to the 980 m Mount Narukami with its Raijindake Shrine, passes the kakkoso primrose colony, and returns to Otaki via Kunugida Pass. A twin-peaked mountain long revered as the home of the thunder god, it is the only place in the world where the kakkoso primrose grows wild, blooming from late April to early May, and the summit looks to the Nikko range and Mount Akagi.
