Mt. Kuromori

Mt. Kuromori is a 917-meter peak in the Ichinoki district of Yamato-machi, Kitakata City, near the boundary with Atsushiokano-machi in Fukushima Prefecture, on the southeastern edge of the Iide Range. Its distinctive bowl-down shape gives it the nicknames "Whale Mountain" from the Atsushiokano side and "Rice-ball Mountain" from Yamato. The summit affords views of the Aizu Basin, Lake Inawashiro, and the Iide massif. Historically counted among the "Three Gold Mountains of Aizu" and a noted source of Kuromori whetstones, it appears on the Utsukushima 100 and Aizu 100 lists.
