Mt. Ishizumisan

Ishizumisan is a 1,456.5 m peak straddling Kumakōgen Town, Tōon City and Matsuyama City in Ehime Prefecture, the highest summit of the Saragamine range and the eastern anchor of the locally promoted 'Tōon Alps.' From its top hikers can survey the entire Ishizuchi range and the mountains of the Takanawa Peninsula. The name—written with the characters for 'ink stone'—comes from the dark, ink-like rocks on the slopes, and the northern flanks shelter the Karakkai and Shiraibi waterfalls, the latter once celebrated in a haiku by Natsume Sōseki. The peak is included in the Shikoku Hyakumeizan, the Shikoku Hyakuzan and Nihon-no-Yama 1000.
