A 481 m peak rising in Zentsūji City, Kagawa Prefecture, the highest of the "Gogaku-zan" (Five Peaks) range that also includes Kōshiki-yama, Fude-no-yama, Naka-yama and Hijōzan. Geologically it is a butte capped with Sanuki andesite, and its precipitous south face — known as Shashin-ga-take — is venerated as the place where, according to legend, the seven-year-old Kūkai (Kōbō Daishi) leapt from the cliff and was caught by Shaka Nyorai, an act that gave the mountain its name ("the mountain where I worshipped my master"). The 73rd Shikoku-pilgrimage temple Shusshakaji stands at its foot and the inner sanctuary Zenjōji at mid-slope. The peak forms the core of the popular Gogaku-zan traverse and appears in the "Shikoku Hyakumeizan", "Shikoku Hyakuzan" and the Yamakei "Bunken Tozan Guide: Kagawa-ken no Yama".
