Mount Yūbari is a 1,667.72 m peak at the southern end of Hokkaidō's Yūbari Mountains, with the summit straddling Yūbari City and Minami-Furano Town and topped by a first-class triangulation point. It lies within the Furano-Ashibetsu Prefectural Natural Park (designated 1958) and is listed in the Nihon Nihyaku Meizan, Hana no Hyakumeizan, New Hana no Hyakumeizan, Ittō-Sankakuten Hyakumeizan, and Hokkaidō Hyakumeizan. Wind-blasted serpentine terrain hosts more than 600 plant species, including endemics such as Yūpari-kozakura and Yūbari-sou, making it one of Japan's foremost flower mountains; the Ainu traditionally venerated it as "Kamuy-shir" (the god-mountain). Three trails reach the summit—the Hiyamizu and Umanose courses from Yūbari, and the Kanayama course from Minami-Furano—and to protect the alpine flora a forest-road gate at the trailhead is opened only from late June to the end of September each year.
