A 377-meter solitary peak in Tano-chō on the north-western fringe of Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture — one of the area's iconic satoyama and a recurring entry in the Tochigi 100, Ōya Seven and Tochigi 150 Mountains rosters. On its flank stands Tage-Fudō-ji Jihō-in (Shingon Chizan sect), founded in 822 by Sonshin, a disciple of Shōdō-shōnin of Nikkō; the mountain also carries the well-preserved remains of Tage Castle, the Utsunomiya clan's principal Sengoku-era fortress. From the free city Tage-yama parking lot (about 60 cars), the climb passes Jihō-in and the Goten-daira saddle to reach the summit in roughly 35 minutes, opening at the top onto a sweeping view of Utsunomiya.
