Mount Shiro

Mount Shiro (265.1 m) rises in the former Ōno area of Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, with a rocky summit ridge looking out over the Seto Inland Sea and Miyajima. The peak preserves the remains of Kadoyama Castle from the Warring States period — post-holes for watchtowers and a square water-cistern carved into the bedrock testify to its use as an Ōuchi-clan fortress around the time of the Battle of Miyajima. Trails climb from Ōgashira Shrine and the Imose Falls at the foot of the mountain. The peak is listed among the Hiroshima 100 Mountains and the Hatsukaichi 20.
