Mt. Gyōja

A 313.1-meter low mountain rising on a ridge close to the Seto Inland Sea in Kuwa, Ōtake City, Hiroshima Prefecture. Long used as a training ground by Shugendō ascetics, its summit hosts a branch shrine of Ishizuchi-jinja invited from Mt. Ishizuchi in Shikoku. The viewpoints look out over the Ōtake petrochemical complex, Kuwa Fishing Port and the full sweep of Miyajima, and the mountain is most often combined in a traverse with Kasa-yama to the north. To distinguish it from another Gyōja-yama (396 m) inland in the same city, it is also called Kuwa Gyōja-yama. Listed in Hiroshima Hyakuzan.
