Mount Shirahige

白鬚岳

Mount Shirahige (1,378 m), the highest peak in Kawakami Village, Nara Prefecture, stands on the western edge of the Taikō Range. It is counted among the "three great steep climbs of the Ōmine area," with a knife-edge summit ridge and sweeping views toward Mount Daifugen and the Ōmine Range. In 1985 the mountaineer Kinji Imanishi summited Shirahige as his 1,500th Japanese peak, and the mountain is listed in the Kinki Hyakumeizan.
