Mount Myōjin

明神岳

Mount Myōjin is a 1,432-metre peak on the main ridge of the Taikō Range, straddling Matsusaka City in Mie and Higashiyoshino Village in Nara. It is the sixth summit of the Matsusaka Kahada Eleven and is also listed among the Kansai 100 and the Nara 100 Walking Mountains. The summit looks out across the Myōjindaira grassland — a former ski field thirty minutes east — and the approach winds through old-growth beech and rhododendron, drawing hikers from spring through to autumn foliage.
