Mount Hikarujo once held a castle of the Hikaru clan. Furumine Shrine at the summit enshrines a guardian deity of fire. In spring, 1,500 Somei-yoshino cherry trees line the trail, reaching their best bloom in mid-April. The summit is about an hour on foot from the trailhead and overlooks Azumino’s farmland and the Northern Alps.
