Mount Gongen

Mount Gongen is a 1,312 m peak on the border between Uenohara City and Ōtsuki City in Yamanashi, the highest of the so-called Three Mountains of Kitatsuru, with the typical approach starting from the Wami and Hatsuto districts of Uenohara. A small shrine to Ōsero-Gongen (also pronounced Ōmure-Gongen) sits just below the summit and gives the peak its name. The hike takes about 3.5 hours from the Wami trailhead and roughly 4 hours from Yōtake, with views from the top reaching Mount Fuji and the Okutama and Dōshi ranges. The peak features in Yamanashi Hyakumeizan, Shin Hana no Hyakumeizan, Kantō Hyakuzan, and Nihon Hyaku Teizan.
