Mount Fukuo is a 598-metre independent peak spanning Taguchi in Komono and Inabe, Mie Prefecture, on a ridge branching northeast from Shakagatake in the Suzuka foothills. Fukuo Shrine, also known as Ise-Shigisan and dedicated to Bishamonten, stands near the eighth station; its tradition stretches back some 1,400 years and tells of Prince Shotoku having the image installed to protect the nation and the demon-gate of Ise Jingu. The approach has tengu statues and the Taishi-sugi cedar, over a thousand years old. A maintained trail leads from the shrine grounds along the ridge and joins a nature trail.
