Three-storey steel-framed lodge on the shore of Lake Kurobe at about 1,480m, surrounded by old-growth beech forest. It stands in national forest at Ashikuraji, Tateyama Town, Toyama Prefecture. From the Kurobe dam you cross the Kanpadani bridge and follow a concrete-paved lakeside path 120cm wide for 20 minutes; from the sightseeing boat pier it is 10 to 15 minutes. It sleeps 100, and rooms are private as a rule, though guests may be put together when it is busy. There are two public baths, one each for men and women, open from 16:00 to 20:00. Dinner and breakfast are both self-service in the dining room. Futons are provided but sheets and yukata cost extra. Char served as bone-infused sake or grilled with salt — both to be ordered in advance — are the house specialities. The season runs from mid-May to late October.
