Hut on the summit of Nabewariyama (1,272m) in the southern Tanzawa massif, where a grassy top gives views of Sagami Bay, Mount Fuji and the Southern Alps. The usual way up is from Okura via Futamata and Ushirozawa-nokkoshi, and this is one of the busiest mountains in Tanzawa all year round. People come above all for the hut's celebrated nabeyaki udon; on weekends in Golden Week and the autumn-colour season the wait can be one to two hours. It is also known for the tradition of hikers voluntarily carrying up water and supplies. Overnight accommodation is not currently offered — day service only — with the hut closed on Mondays and Fridays. It opens at 11am Tuesday to Thursday and at 10am at weekends and on holidays, closing at 1pm or as soon as the udon sells out. The public toilet on the summit runs on an honesty box, and used paper must be carried out.
