Shelter at about 1,160m beside the Irikawa, in the headwaters of the Arakawa, at Otaki in Chichibu, Saitama, in the Okuchichibu mountains. It is also known simply as Yanagi Goya. From Kawamata a track following an old timber railway reaches Akasawa-deai in about two hours, and from there it is another two and a half hours through primeval beech, birch and maple forest, with the sound of the river alongside. The hut stands where the Shinnosawa forest track towards Kobushigatake crosses the route to Karisaka Pass; Jumonji Pass is a further three and a half hours by the Matanosawa track via Shirikannon. Deep woods surround it, in a quiet corner of the headwaters far from the ridge traverses.
