Mountain hut at about 1,780m on the main Okuchichibu ridge traverse, on the Koshu side in Yamanashi, in the headwaters of the Tama River. Close by are Kasatoriyama (1,953m), the "little watershed" where the Tama, Ara and Fuji river systems divide, and Mizuhi, held to be the Tama's first drop — so the hut serves as a base for a walk around the river's source. Lodging is room-only and must be reserved; tent pitches on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays need no booking except for groups of seven or more. The season runs from 29 April to 3 January, though outside the New Year period, long weekends and the summer holidays the owner is present only at weekends. Drinks and original goods are sold, and guests are asked to say a word before using the benches, tables and front yard. Fires are strictly forbidden around the campsite and hut, including fire pans and wood stoves. Mobile phones barely work here.
