Log-built hut at Odarumi Pass (2,365m) in the Okuchichibu mountains, in the saddle between Asahidake and Kokushigatake, midway between Kimpusan and the Kokushi/Kitaokusenjo peaks. A road reaches the pass — paved the whole way on the Yamanashi side, with parking just below the hut — so the place is busy both with day walkers doing the two peaks and with those who stay a night. Tour buses run from Enzan Station at weekends and on public holidays; on weekdays it is about an hour and a half by taxi. The Kawakami–Makioka forest road to the pass is normally closed from 1 December to 31 May. The hut sleeps about 30, mainly in an undivided common room with bedding provided, and a private room for one party a night is available for a surcharge. A spring-fed tap sits beside the building, and inside there is a flush-type toilet for guests only. The campsite, for up to about 25 tents, lies within a Class 1 Special Zone of the national park and normally needs no reservation. A café and shop operate mainly at weekends and on holidays.
