This circuit starts at Mount Yufu's main trailhead, climbs to the east peak via Hinatayama Junction, and returns through Aigoe Pass. At 1,583 m, Mount Yufu is known as the Bungo Fuji for its twin-peaked form; the east peak overlooks Yufuin, Beppu Bay, and the Kuju Mountains. The section between the east peak and Matae has collapses and fissures and has seen fatal accidents, so it requires particular care.
