From Tsurumi Sanjo Station, the upper station of the Beppu Ropeway at about 1,300 m, this short walk follows a well-kept path with many stone steps for 15 to 20 minutes to the 1,375 m summit of Mount Tsurumi and back. At the eastern edge of the Aso-Kuju National Park, it has around 5,000 Miyama-kirishima azaleas in spring and rime ice in winter, and the summit looks over Beppu Bay, Mount Yufu and the Kuju range.
