From Jododaira in Fukushima, this route climbs via Sukagadaira to the active volcano Issaikyo (1,949 m), which looks down on the cobalt-blue crater lake Goshikinuma, the Witch's Eye, then returns to Sukagadaira and takes in Higashi-Azuma (1,975 m), the high point of the eastern Azuma range, before descending to Jododaira. Rugged volcanic ground alternates with marshes and ponds, bright with foliage in autumn.
