Sarufutsu's village-run ski hill sits on the edge of Onishibetsu and offers a single gentle slope where local kids and beginners learn. It uses a schlepp lift, a rare surface lift in Japan, and the car park is at the top of the slope, so you can click in and ski straight down. Two small jumps are built on the hill, and night skiing runs on Fridays and Saturdays. Residents ride free. The hill opens once enough snow has fallen, usually from around the New Year to late February.
