Birao Ski Area Closed
Official name ビラオスキー場 · Formerly 国設美羅尾スキー場
Hokkaido
Open 1946–2008
Birao Ski Area occupied the eastern slopes of Mt. Birao near the centre of Teshikaga, Hokkaido, about 5 km from Mashu Station. Skiing there dates back to at least 1946, when it was known as the national Birao ski ground. It offered 11 runs over about 380 m of vertical, the longest about 2.4 km and many of them steep, along with night lighting and snowmaking. A triple chair, a pair chair and a single chair served the hill until it closed in 2008, and the lift structures were left standing afterwards.
