Mt. Tetemiezuyama

Mt. Tetemiezuyama is a 1,047-meter peak straddling the boundary between Kanna Town in Gunma's Tano District and Ogano Town in Saitama's Chichibu District, marking the southern edge of the Nishi-Joshu mountains south of the Kanna River. The mountain's curious name ("the mountain where one cannot see one's father") is variously traced to a child of the rebel Taira no Masakado who gazed at the peak in mourning, or to a child who waited across the Kanna River for a warrior father's return from battle. The poet Yoshikichi Ozaki celebrated it in his Kanna River travelogue. It is featured in the Gunma Hyakumeizan and Kanto Hyakuzan lists.
