Mt. Shakushigamine

Shakushigamine (247 m) is a grassy hill north of Tosu, Saga Prefecture, unusual for the cluster of ancient burial mounds along its ridge. Its name comes from a legend that the Kannon mowed its grass with a ladle (shakushi). Grass-skiing is possible from autumn into early spring, and the summit overlooks the city of Tosu, the Chikugo Plain and the Mino range. Tashiro Park, a cherry-blossom spot, lies at its foot.
