Ryugamori is a 1,049.8 m peak straddling the boundary between Odate and Kitaakita cities in Akita Prefecture, sitting on national forest land just north of Mt. Moriyoshi across Lake Taihei. The name derives from a former rain-prayer cult to a 'dragon god', and four maintained trails — Hinai, Mogami, Higashi-no-mata and Kansawa — pass through stands of centuries-old beech and natural Akita cedar. The summit has an emergency hut and observation deck with views across Hachimantai, Mt. Moriyoshi and Mt. Tashiro to distant Mt. Iwate and Mt. Akita-Komagatake. It is listed among the 100 Famous Mountains of Tohoku and in the 'Mountains of Akita' prefectural guide, and the two cities jointly hold a mountain-opening ceremony every year on 1 June.
