Ōfunayama is a 653 m isolated peak in Sanda City, Hyōgo Prefecture, set on the Tamba Highlands and instantly recognisable for the sharp profile that distinguishes it among the Hokusetsu mountains. Long revered as a place where the gods descend, its slopes hold Ōbune-ji, said to have been founded by the monk Nichira after he reached the mountain by boat. The 360-degree summit panorama takes in the Hokusetsu and Tamba ranges and on clear days reaches as far as Osaka Bay, and the peak appears in the Furusato Hyōgo 100 selection.
