Mutsuga-take is a 338.8 m peak in northern Fukuoka Prefecture, sitting at the meeting point of Miyawaka City, Nōgata City, and Kurate Town in Kurate District. Its name reflects six summits — Asahi-dake (the highest), Kōso-no-mine, Tenkan-no-mine, Sakito-no-mine, Idō-no-mine, and Hagoromo-no-mine — and the mountain is also known as Kurate Fuji. From Asahi-dake the panorama extends 360°, from the Hibiki and Genkai seas to Mt. Sarakura, Mt. Fukuchi, and Mt. Hiko, taking in the entire Chikuhō basin. At the foot stands Mutsugatake Shrine, traditionally identified as the site where the three Munakata goddesses descended to earth. Three trailheads serve the mountain — at Ryūtoku in Miyawaka, Shinnyū-Nagata in Nōgata, and Hase in Kurate — making it a popular family hike. The peak is included in the Fukuoka Ultra-Low Mountains list.
