Mitsukuriyama is a 372 m peak straddling Higashiōmi and Ōmihachiman cities in Shiga Prefecture, the highest summit in a small range of rhyolitic rock peaks (with Tarobō-yama, Kowaki-yama and Iwatō-yama). The cluster has been revered as sacred since antiquity, and Tarobō-gū (Aga-jinja)—a 1,400-year-old shrine famed for victory and good fortune—stands at its foot. The summit holds the ruins of Mitsukuri-yama Castle, an outwork of Kannonji Castle that fell in Oda Nobunaga's 1568 invasion, and the peak forms part of the East Ōmi Trail circuit linking Ichinobe Station, Iwatō-yama, the Jūsanbutsu carvings and Tarobō-gū. The peak appears in the Shiga Prefecture climbing guide and the Ōmi-no-Yamashiro 70.
