Mt. Kamakurajiyama

Mt. Kamakurajiyama is a 610 m peak in the Shiraki area of Hiroshima City's Asakita Ward, rare in the surroundings of Hiroshima for its long crest of rock walls and pinnacles. It is celebrated as the birthplace of rock climbing in Hiroshima Prefecture, where the prefecture's first climbing instruction sessions were held, and its southern ridge features a sharply serrated skyline including a knife-edge known as the "Horse's Back." The trail is reached on foot from JR Geibi Line Shiwaguchi Station, with mid-May Rhododendron blooms and panoramic ridge views drawing hikers; the peak is one of the five summits certified under Asakita Ward's "Hiroshima Kita-Satoyama King" hiking program.
