Mt. Hamaishi (707 m) rises just north of Yui, Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City, one of the closest peaks to the coastline of Suruga Bay and standing directly behind the historic Tōkaidō post-town of Yui. The broad, grassy summit gives a full 360-degree panorama: Mt. Fuji rises ahead in commanding scale, the towns of Yui and Shimizu lie below, the Izu Peninsula closes the bay, and the Southern Alps line the northern horizon. Trails climb from JR Yui Station via the Saiun-ji and Sattatōge routes, and the peak is named on Sumie Tanaka's "100 Flower Mountains" as well as Japan's 100 Low Mountains and the 100 Mountains of Shizuoka.
