Mount Piyashiri

Mount Piyashiri is a 986.8-meter peak in the Kitami Mountains of northern Hokkaido, marking the boundary of Nayoro City and the towns of Shimokawa and Oumu. The Ainu name "piya-shir" means "mountain with rocks," reflecting the rocky outcrops near the summit. Just below the top lies Piyashiri Wetland, and roughly four kilometers north stands Matsuyama Wetland, Japan's northernmost raised bog. The mountain is counted among the 100 famous mountains of Hokkaido.
