Mount Myōken

Mount Myōken (660.1 m) straddles Nose Town in Osaka and Kawanishi City and Inagawa Town in Hyōgo, and is best known for Nose-Myōken-zan, a Nichiren-sect temple at the summit revered as a centre of pole-star worship. The summit beech grove is designated a natural monument of Osaka Prefecture, rare at this elevation. The temple maintains five pilgrimage trails — Shintakimichi, Daidōgoe, Uesugi-One, Hatsutani Gorge and Tendai-san — most reached from Myōkenguchi Station on the Nose Railway. The peak is included in the One Hundred Mountains of Kansai and Furusato Hyōgo 100.
