Mount Karasako

Mount Karasako, also known as Mount Takamine, is a 1,006 m peak on the border between Hoshino-mura in Yame City (Fukuoka) and Hita City (Oita). Old stone markers tracing the former Buzen-Bungo provincial boundary still dot the route, which climbs a pleasant stream-side trail and reaches the open summit in about 75 minutes from the trailhead. The top gives a sweeping view west over Yame and Kurume to the Sefuri, Tara and Unzen ranges and east to Mount Shaka and Mount Gozen. The peak is listed in the Fukuoka Prefecture Mountain Guide and the Yame-no-Yama list.
