Mount Ishiwari

石割岳

Mount Ishiwari is a 941 m peak in Kuroki-machi, Yame City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Its name—"stone-split peak"—reflects the moss-covered stone stairs that climb its trail. The shady north slope stays cool, and where the path crosses the Ishiwaridake forest road it is lined by azalea, rhododendron, paperbush and pieris blooming through the seasons. The summit was once carpeted with wild mountain cherries that have since been replanted by local volunteers. The peak is listed among the Yame-no-Yama.
