Mount Kabutoyama

甲山

Zentsūji-shi, Kagawa · Elevation 87 m

Its name is said to come from its resemblance to an ancient helmet. During the Sengoku period it held the castle of Asahina Yataro, a warrior serving the Kagawa clan; the pentagonal flat area on the summit is considered the castle’s center. The summit is about a 15-minute walk from the trailhead in Koyamaji Temple’s grounds and has Meiji-era monuments to Emperors Jimmu and Komei.
