Mount Hatafuri (252.6 m) rises in Suma Ward, Kobe City, Hyōgo Prefecture, at the western end of the Rokkō Mountains between Mount Hachibuse and Mount Tekkai. The name comes from a Taishō- and Shōwa-era relay station where rice-market quotations from Osaka were signalled with waving flags. As the first peak on the 56 km Rokkō Zenzan Jūsō (Rokkō Full Mountain Traverse), the summit holds a teahouse and commands views east over Kobe and west across the Akashi Bridge to the Banshū Plain.
