Mount Gongen

Mount Gongen is a 396.8-metre hill in the Midorii district of Asaminami Ward, Hiroshima City, set in the 45-hectare Gongen-yama Forest of Rest managed by the city. A paved forest road reaches the summit, where NHK and commercial broadcasting towers stand alongside a promenade leading to Bishamon-dō, said to have been founded some 700 years ago. The summit looks out across central Hiroshima to the islands of Ninoshima and Miyajima, and the peak serves as the starting point of the popular Gongenyama–Abusan–Ōta-gawa hiking course. The mountain is included in the Hiroshima Hyakuzan list.
