Mount Azuma

Mount Azuma is an 869.87-metre peak straddling the border of Azuma-machi, Mizuho-machi and Chijiwa-machi in Unzen City, Nagasaki Prefecture, set in the northern part of the Unzendake complex within Unzen-Amakusa National Park. Its sheer southern face is cut by the Chijiwa Fault, one of the major active faults of the Shimabara Peninsula, and is registered as a geo-site of the Shimabara Peninsula UNESCO Global Geopark. Hiking access is described in the literature of the Unzen Oyama no Jōhōkan (national-park visitor center), and the peak is listed in the Kyūshū Hyakumeizan and the Nagasaki prefectural mountain guide (Bunken Tōzan Guide).
