Minami-Petoutoru-yama is a 1,345 m mountain on the western shore of Lake Shikaribetsu in Shikaoi Town, Hokkaido, in the Higashi-Taisetsu area of Daisetsuzan National Park. It is a stratovolcano — unusual among the peaks around the lake — and lava from its eruption roughly 300,000 years ago spreads north of the lakeside hot-spring hotels. A single trail, the Lake Shikaribetsu Onsen course, climbs it in about 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours, with 1 hour 10 to 20 minutes back down. In clear weather the summit takes in Lake Shikaribetsu, Lake Shinonome and the Tokachi plain, though part of the route crosses rock where the path is hard to follow.
