Iwafunedake

A roughly 467-meter peak (466.6 m) in the southern half of Itsukushima (Miyajima), Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, lying within the Special Area of Setonaikai National Park. After Mt. Misen (535 m) and Komaga-bayashi (509 m), it is the island's third-highest summit, draped in primary evergreen broadleaf forest in marked contrast to the visitor-heavy central temples. From Miyajima Pier the walk to the top is a one-way ridge traverse of about three hours, threading Jōmon–Yayoi archaeological sites and old kiln ruins that trace the long human history of this World Cultural Heritage island. Listed in the Hiroshima 100 Mountains.
