Ibune (1,160 m) lies deep in the Suzuka Mountains in Higashiomi City, Shiga Prefecture, and is known as the "inner sanctum of Suzuka" or the "Kumonotaira of Suzuka". The gently rolling summit plateau is carpeted in thick mosses, creating a distinctive landscape. The peak is within Suzuka Quasi-National Park, where camping near the summit is prohibited to protect the vegetation. Selected as one of the Suzuka 10 Peaks by Higashiomi City on the 10th anniversary of its founding, it also appears on the Ōmi Hyakusan, Suzuka 300, and Suzuka 50 lists.
