Mountain hut on the ridge at about 2,760m, some twenty minutes below Tengu-iwa on the northwest side of Shiomidake in the Southern Alps. Operated by Ina City Kanko Co., it is the last night before the summit for walkers coming up the Torikura route or over Sanpukutoge. Capacity is around 34: a 32-person main room plus two single rooms. Reservations are essential — without one you may be turned away, or accepted but not fed. Besides the July to early October season it has opened over Golden Week in recent years. In winter a cramped shelter space about 1.6m square is left open, though in deep winter the door can freeze shut or the space be buried in snow.
