Ozegoya

Mountain lodge sleeping about 200 at Miharashi (Shimotashiro Crossroads), the eastern end of the Ozegahara marsh, in Hiuchigatake, Hinoemata Village, Minamiaizu District, Fukushima Prefecture. It was founded in 1957. The terrace looking straight at Shibutsu-san, one of Japan's hundred famous mountains, along with the free rest room and shop, are open to passers-by as well as guests, and the kitchen turns out things rarely found in a mountain hut: steak, French dishes and draught Premium Malt's in the lodge's own tankards. The men's and women's baths, Hiuchi-buro and Shibutsu-buro, are filled from groundwater seeping off Hiuchigatake, and all the water in the building is natural drinking water. Guest rooms are entirely non-smoking and come with futon, pillow, blanket and sheets; a twelve-mat lounge has a wood stove and a large TV, and there is also a western-style lounge, a drying room for wet days, coin lockers, a paid charging corner and separate washlet toilets. Check-in is from 12:00 and checkout at 8:00, with dinner from 17:00 and breakfast from 6:00. On foot it is about three hours from Hatomachi Pass by way of Yamanohana and Ryugu, about 4.5 hours from Miike by way of Kamitashiro and the Dankichi-shindo, about five hours from Numayama Pass by way of the Oe wetlands and the north shore of Lake Ozenuma to Numajiri, and about six hours from Oshimizu.
