大谷ヒュッテ (南地獄谷避難小屋)

Publicly owned emergency shelter at about 1,780m on the eastern flank of Mt. Myoko, in Myoko-Togakushi Renzan National Park, in Sekiyama, Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture. It lies roughly 1.5km east-southeast of the summit of Mt. Myoko, about 1.8km southwest of Tsubame Onsen and about 1.9km west of the summit station of the Myoko Kogen Sky Cable, partway along the Akakura trail that follows the ridge up from that station. The Ministry of the Environment's national hut list classes it as a publicly owned emergency shelter managed by the tourism and commerce division of Myoko City. It stands in a range that holds two of Japan's hundred famous mountains, Myoko and Hiuchi, and the city asks climbers to file a climbing plan before entering. No official source could be found giving the hut's capacity or conditions of use.
