京大ヒュッテ

Hut of the Kyoto University Alpine Club on the Sasagamine plateau in Myoko, Niigata, at about 1,330m. Seniors of the club built it with their own money in 1928, and it was rebuilt as a three-storey wooden building in 1999. Ringed by Myokosan, Hiuchiyama and Kurohimeyama, it is cool in summer and spectacular in autumn colour. Normally a base for the club's climbing and ski-mountaineering training, it opens to the general public for about two weeks in summer and ten days in autumn. Five rooms sleep about 20, and there is electricity, a simple water supply, hot water, a shower, simple flush toilets and a wood stove. Guests cook for themselves, with cookware and seasonings provided. From Myoko-kogen Station the Keinan bus stops at "Kyodai Hutte" right outside.
