A mountain lodge on the Nagano side of Norikuradake, the massif that straddles Nagano and Gifu, standing beside prefectural route 84 — the Norikura Echo Line. Its name comes from the cold sulphur spring that runs alongside it. Founded in 1931, it was closed for sixteen years and reopened in July 2022, remade less as a climbers' hut than as a small inn in the forest. Private cars are barred from the Echo Line all year, so guests park at the Kanko Center in Norikura Kogen or the Sanbondaki rest house and take the Norikura Tatamidaira shuttle bus, getting off at Reisen Goya-mae. From Matsumoto station it is the Matsumoto Dentetsu line to Shin-Shimashima, then a bus to Norikura Kogen. There are three private bedrooms and one dormitory, eleven beds in all; the rate includes breakfast and a bath, while dinner is a set course built on seasonal produce from Matsumoto and elsewhere in Nagano. At weekends a café opens from 9:00 to 16:00, stocked among other things with energy food for cyclists tackling the Norikura hill climb.
