From Minokoshi at about 1,400 m, where Tsurugi Shrine anchors the mountain's worship, this return walk climbs the trail beside the chairlift to Nishijima and follows the ridge trail to the 1,955 m summit of Mount Tsurugi. It passes the Katanakake Pine, where Emperor Antoku is said to have hung his sword, and Hozoishi Shrine, and the summit boardwalk looks out to Jirogyu and the Shikoku ranges.
